The fish quality is decent but I feel like the marketing oversells it quite a bit. I've had wild Alaskan salmon from my local seafood market that honestly tasted just as good for less money. The convenience of home delivery is nice but it doesn't justify the premium for me. Also, pausing my subscription was more complicated than it should have been — the website kept reverting my settings. Not a bad company, just not living up to the hype in my experience.

Worst customer service I've dealt with in a long time. I tried to cancel my subscription before the next billing cycle and followed all the steps on their website. I was still charged the following month. When I reached out, I got a form email response and then silence for a week. Had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. The fish was fine but no product is worth this level of frustration. Stay far away if you value your time and money.
Ironically, living in the Pacific Northwest, I had high hopes that a wild Alaskan seafood service would blow me away. It didn't. The salmon was fine but I can get comparable quality at my local Pike Place vendors for significantly less. The box also came with three identical cuts of sockeye when I had selected a mixed box — clearly a fulfillment error. They corrected it but I had to go back and forth over email for almost a week. Not worth the premium subscription cost.
Mixed feelings about Wild Alaskan. On the positive side, the halibut I received was genuinely excellent and the packaging is very well done. On the negative side, I've had two deliveries where the dry ice had completely evaporated and the fish was only cool — not frozen. I live in a condo and sometimes can't get home immediately after delivery, so I'm relying on the fish staying frozen. This is a real concern that the company needs to address. Three stars until they fix the shipping reliability.
I placed a wholesale inquiry for my small catering business and was completely ignored for two weeks. When someone finally responded, the pricing they quoted was barely better than retail and the minimum order quantities were unreasonable for a small operation like mine. The person I spoke with seemed uninterested in my business and didn't make any effort to work with me. I ended up going with a local distributor who actually wanted my business. Very disappointing.
The first box I got was great and I thought I had found my go-to seafood source. Then box two arrived with a broken vacuum seal on the pollock and box three came with the wrong fish entirely — I got rockfish instead of the cod I ordered. By this point I was spending more time emailing customer service than actually cooking. The credits they offer don't make up for the time wasted or the meal planning disruptions. Cancelled after four months.
I appreciate the mission and the sustainable sourcing story, but the execution has been inconsistent for me. The salmon I got in January was gorgeous. The cod I got in March was thin, slightly freezer-burned on one edge, and not worth the price. The subscription model also feels a bit rigid — I wish I could skip months more easily or swap out fish types without jumping through hoops on their site. Decent product overall but needs refinement.
I ordered as a gift for my parents and the box never arrived. It showed as delivered by FedEx but my parents never received it. I contacted Wild Alaskan and they said I needed to take it up with FedEx directly. That's not how this should work — when you sell a perishable product, you own the customer experience end to end. After several rounds of frustrating back-and-forth, they finally reshipped, but the whole situation was handled poorly. Never again.
