Oshala Farm

I placed an order for three different dried herbs and waited almost three weeks for delivery. When the package finally showed up, one of the bags was not properly sealed and the herbs had lost most of their aroma. I emailed customer service twice and didn't hear back for over a week, and when they did respond it was a very generic reply that didn't really address my concern about the open bag. For the price they charge I expected better quality control and communication.

The herbs I received were okay but not worth the price or the wait. I ordered valerian root and passionflower and both arrived looking a bit brown and lackluster. For a farm that markets itself on premium organic quality I expected something more vibrant and fresh. Compared to other suppliers I've used, the potency just wasn't there. Shipping also took nearly two weeks with no tracking updates. I might try them one more time but this first experience didn't wow me.

I've ordered from Oshala Farm twice now and both times had issues with the shipping. My first order arrived with a cracked glass bottle — luckily the lid held — and my second order was missing one of the items I paid for. I contacted them about the missing item and they eventually sent a replacement but it took almost a month and several emails to sort out. The herbs themselves were decent quality but the fulfillment process needs serious improvement. Hard to recommend when ordering is such a hassle.

I was excited to support a small organic farm but left feeling underwhelmed. The website makes the farm sound like a magical healing destination but when I visited in person it felt disorganized. The shop area was cluttered, there was no one available to answer questions for about 20 minutes, and the pricing felt steep for what was available. I bought a small herbal tea blend that honestly tasted no better than something from the grocery store. I wanted to love this place but it just didn't deliver.

I purchased a few herbal tinctures as holiday gifts and was embarrassed when the recipients told me the bottles arrived leaking inside the packaging. The caps weren't tightened properly and the liquid had soaked into the paper wrapping they use. I contacted the farm and they did send replacement bottles, so credit for that, but the replacements took three weeks to arrive after the holidays had passed. The tinctures themselves are fine quality but the packaging and quality control really need work.

The idea behind Oshala Farm is wonderful and I really want to support small organic farms, but my experience with their herbal medicine products has been inconsistent at best. I ordered the same nervine tincture twice, about six months apart, and the two bottles tasted completely different — one was rich and potent, the other thin and almost flavorless. Batch variation this extreme suggests quality control issues. I'd rather pay a little more for consistency than gamble on whether I'm getting a good batch or not.
